Apple Store Shuts Down Ahead of iPhone 16 Launch
Just six hours before the iPhone 16 launch event, Apple's website went offline.
The Apple Store website is currently down for maintenance, with a message saying: Be right back. We’re making updates to the Apple Store. Check back soon.” This temporary disruption comes as the tech giant prepares to reveal its latest products.
The Apple Store website outage features a blue and pink Apple logo, similar to the design featured in Apple’s invitation for today’s event, titled “It’s Glowtime.” The event is to be held in Cupertino, California, at 10:00 AM PT (18:00 BST).
Although Apple hasn't officially announced new devices, tradition suggests that it is likely they will unveil the iPhone 16 lineup: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, in multiple colors.
This year’s models are expected to feature a slightly larger screen, a first since the iPhone 12, and a new selfie-friendly button on the side that could appeal to selfie enthusiasts.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are rumoured to come in blue, green, white, black, and pink, while the iPhone 16 Pro models and iPhone 16 Pro Max could be available in white, black, grey, and bronze.
Apple is also rumoured to announce new products like a special 10th anniversary Apple Watch and possibly two new AirPods models.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 are expected to go live on Friday, September 13, 2024, with the first units likely shipping on Friday, September 20. The launch event will be streamed live on Apple’s website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app.
