The Omoluabi Caucus, a faction within the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC), has distanced itself from any of its members who were appointed to the state's local government caretaker committee by the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government.
According to a statement signed by Adelowo Adebiyi, former Chairman of the APC in the state and coordinator of the group, Adebiyi emphasized that those appointed by Governor Adeleke did so due to their personal influence and not on behalf of the caucus.
Adebiyi clarified, "We want to make it clear that there was never an agreement between the now-defunct TOP and the PDP for us to work on their behalf.
This erroneous notion of compensation, being spread by troublemakers, is unfounded. These individuals are attempting to tarnish our caucus's reputation as part of their ongoing efforts to discredit our patron, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola."
Affirming the stance of the pro-Aregbesola faction of the APC, Adebiyi reiterated, "For us, the Osun APC crisis revolves around the fundamental well-being and purposeful significance of the party, rather than personal interests.
Our main focus has been on revitalizing, reorganizing, renovating, and reinvigorating the party's structure to achieve electoral victories.
Unfortunately, our self-centered and politically inexperienced opponents rejected our approach, resorting to violence and aggression."
Adebiyi lamented, "Regrettably, our rejected strategy has been validated through the substantial loss of over 99% of electoral positions and, consequently, the loss of power in the state."
He maintained that the Omoluabi Caucus, much like its predecessor "The Osun Progressives (TOP)," is composed of an elite and firmly established group within progressive politics, committed to the pursuit of good governance.
He emphasized, "No matter the malicious efforts of a few individuals attempting to undermine the APC, we will remain loyal to the platform."
