Mojeed Olanrewaju, a suspect in the alleged theft of a motorcycle, has been apprehended by members of the Amotekun Corps of the Osun Western Security Network Agency.

The security company said that the 29-year-old man was taken into custody on Wednesday for stealing a motorcycle in Ikire, which is in the state's Irewole Local Government Area.

On Thursday in Osogbo, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, confirmed the arrest by revealing that its personnel acted after residents of the Ilupeju Community in Ikire notified the security organization.

“It was in the course of carting away the motorcycle that the owner saw him and alerted the security outfit at the Ikire Command.

“Immediately the Osun Amotekun operatives were alerted, they swung into action and apprehended the culprit,” he said.

Upon interrogation, Adewinmbi revealed that the culprit confessed to the crime and explained that he had indulged in motorcycle theft for a long time.

“The culprit also explained that he always sells the stolen motorcycles to one Baba Dele, who is Ibadan-based, in the sum of N100,000 and N80,000, and he had been jailed for two years for the same offense in 2019.

“He will be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution,” Adewinmbi concluded.
