The security network of states in the Southwest geopolitical zone, Amotekun Corps, arrested a 24-year-old suspected rapist on Friday in Iwo, Osun.
It was alleged kept a 16-year-old girl in his room for three days and he knew her sexually.
Retired Brig.-Gen. commanded the corps in Osun. On Saturday, Bashir Adewinmbi informed reporters in Osogbo that the security team also arrested a 28-year-old herbalist in Iwo.
The herbalist was found to be in possession of counterfeit N1,000 and $100 bills, in addition to allegedly defrauding some individuals.
After Amotekun was informed of the suspects' illegal activities, they were detained on Friday at various locations in Iwo.
Adewinmbi stated, "The suspects confessed to the crimes upon interrogation and were handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution."
The commander of the Amotekun urged residents of Osun to always provide security agencies with information that could aid in the prevention of crime and the capture of criminals.
