Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of physical and infrastructural development in Ile Ife, the historical hub of the Yoruba people.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor emphasized that the city deserves significant improvements, starting with the construction of the Lagere flyover and the dualization of the road to the Ooni’s palace.

Adeleke affirmed that Ile Ife, with its global cultural and tourism significance, cannot continue to appear underdeveloped. He expressed a commitment to transforming the city, saying, "I want to be remembered as the governor who modernized Ile Ife into a leading cultural and tourism city."

The governor also pledged to enhance security by reforming the state's Amotekun service and integrating local vigilantes and hunters into the security network. Additionally, an African Development Bank-supported agricultural processing zone is set to be established in the city.

Gbenga Adefaye, President of the Ife Development Board, praised the governor for his efforts and urged further attention to road expansion, security, and agriculture. Adeleke assured that all requests would be evaluated and addressed by the government’s technical team.
