Adeleke Inaugurates Construction of N1.6bn Intercity Road in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has inaugurated the construction of the 5.68km Ede-Egbedi-Erin Osun intercity road valued at N1.69 billion.

Reiterating his commitment to transparency and accountability in public contracting, he announced that the road would be reconstructed through direct labor within an eight-month completion period.

Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Bashiru Salami, at the flag-off ceremony held at Erin Osun, the governor, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Sunday, stated that the road is part of the state's infrastructure projects.

The governor provided an overview of other projects awarded under the infrastructure development, including costs and contractors responsible for each contract.

He stated, “This road is part of the multi-billion naira infrastructure plan announced by Mr. Governor last year. The administration is poised to implement the infra plan despite the harsh economic situation in the country."

“As we roll out the projects, we are complying with the procurement law on all fronts. All required due processes are complied with. This administration is committed to open governance and open procurement."

The projects listed included the dualization of Old Garage-Okefia-Lameco Junction; dualization of Akoda-Baptist High School Ede; dualization of Baptist High School – Oke Gada, Ede; construction of 4Span bridge across Osun River and dual 2-span bridge across Erinle river; construction of a 7-span bridge at Okefia intersection, Osogbo; and construction of a 4-span bridge at Lameco intersection, Osogbo.
