On Monday, the Nigerian Police Force addressed recent concerns surrounding the wave of arrests related to the #EndBadGovernance protest. The police clarified that the 873 individuals detained were not peaceful protesters but were instead identified as criminal elements engaged in looting and vandalism.

The force emphasized the importance of distinguishing between lawful demonstrations and violent actions that compromise public order.

In a separate announcement, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that 31 individuals have been arrested on charges of treason. These arrests are connected to the production and distribution of Russian flags and attempts to incite anarchy. Among those detained, 30 were captured in Kaduna and one in Kano.

ACP Adejobi defended the police's use of tear gas during the protests, asserting that it was employed following established rules of engagement. He urged for adherence to the rule of law to safeguard national assets and ensure public safety.
