Kemi Badenoch, leader of the UK Conservative Party, has leveled serious accusations against the Nigerian police, claiming they rob citizens rather than protect them.

In a recent interview, Badenoch recounted her negative experiences with the Nigerian police, contrasting them with her positive interactions with British law enforcement.

When asked by a UK journalist if she trusted the British police, Badenoch responded affirmatively, stating, "My experience with the Nigeria Police was very negative."

She recalled a specific incident where police officers allegedly stole her brother's shoes and watch, remarking that such behavior is not uncommon in Nigeria, a country she described as "very poor."

Badenoch emphasized that giving people in such conditions access to firearms can lead to intimidation rather than protection.

Her comments have reignited discussions about her previous criticisms of Nigeria and have drawn mixed reactions.

While she stands by her statements, they have prompted responses from Nigerian officials, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who accused her of disparaging her homeland.
