Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy, is facing multiple legal challenges for serious allegations of sex trafficking, sexual abuse and other criminal offenses.
Diddy is a prominent rapper and music executive credited with launching the careers of major stars, was arrested on Monday, September 16, in New York by federal authorities after months of civil lawsuits.
In a recently unsealed indictment, federal prosecutors accuse Diddy and his associates of engaging in coercive and abusive practices towards women such as forcing them into recorded sexual activities.
According to reports, these allegations date back to 2008. Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being denied bail twice.
His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has responded stating that his client is “an innocent man” and expressed disappointment with the prosecution's decision to pursue the case.
Agnifilo urged the public to withhold judgment until all facts are presented in court.
The charges against Diddy include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation for prostitution, as revealed by the Southern District of New York.
Prosecutors claim that Diddy used his influence, resources, and employees to facilitate a "criminal enterprise" that involved multiple forms of abuse and exploitation.
Several lawsuits have been filed against Diddy, including one from singer Casandra Ventura, also known as Cassie, who alleged a decade of abuse. Diddy had denied these allegations and settled the lawsuit shortly after it was filed.
