A family of five from Nigeria who sold their home and car and borrowed millions of naira to pay for for their relocation to the UK regrets being in such a dire predicament.
The family set out on this life-altering voyage with expectations for a better future, but as they battle to manage financial difficulties in a foreign country, their dreams have been shattered.
The mother of the family, who was in possession of a study visa, decided to bring the family to the UK in order to pursue chances for higher education.
However, she discovered upon arrival that in order to be able to work in the country, she had to obtain a post-graduate visa, which cost a sizable sum of money.
Due to the uncertainties, the mother has been unable to make a financial contribution toward the family's needs, making her husband the only source of income.
The mental and emotional health of her family has been negatively impacted, claims the woman who narrated the story on the popular video sharing app Tik Tok @gloriaotikor1. As soon as she arrived in the UK, the creditors who gave her money in Nigeria started calling to demand repayment.
But the family is facing an unclear and painful future because they have no source of income and rising debt.
The woman hasn't been able to pay her school tuition in full despite their best efforts to find funding, threatening her desire to pursue a degree. As a result, the family is stuck in a cycle of debt and is trying to survive in an overseas country with limited funds.
Although the husband's job provides some income, it is not enough to pay the rent and meet the needs of their five children.
