Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria following her release from a United Kingdom prison. A reliable source confirmed her arrival to our correspondent on Wednesday.

This return comes after both Mrs. Ekweremadu and her husband were convicted in a UK court for their involvement in an organ trafficking case, which has garnered significant media attention.

Senator Ekweremadu received a 10-year prison sentence, while Mrs. Ekweremadu was sentenced to six years for her role in the case alongside Dr. Obinna Obeta, who also faced sentencing.

The case revolved around allegations that the couple conspired to exploit a vulnerable individual for organ harvesting to benefit their daughter, who suffers from kidney disease.
