The government of the United Kingdom has announced a ban on international health workers and carers from bringing their dependents to the country on work visas.

The UK stated in a release on Monday by the Secretary of State for the Home Department, James Cleverly, on the Home Office X account, that the ban was a part of efforts to decrease migration.

On the account, an infographic was also posted, which stated “Banned: Overseas care workers cannot bring dependants.”

“120,000 people who arrived last year would no longer be eligible under our new rules,” it added.

It was also stated that the announcement was made based on the economic downtown facing the UK. Notably, the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has been working to resolve it.

At the beginning of this year, the UK prohibited international students from bringing their families, solidifying actions to decrease migration.

In addition, Bloomberg reported a decrease in the number of job vacancies in the UK.
