Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced on Friday that he has agreed to participate in a debate against Vice President Kamala Harris on Fox News, scheduled for September 4.

Trump who shared this information via his Truth Social platform stated that "I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th."

As of now, it remains unclear whether Harris has confirmed her participation in the debate. This announcement follows Harris's recent nomination as the Democratic Party's candidate for the upcoming presidential election, succeeding President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the race amid concerns regarding his age and polling performance.

The original plan included a second debate between Trump and Biden, set for September 10 on ABC. However, with Biden's exit, the debate will now feature Harris.

Trump had previously expressed reluctance to debate Harris, citing a significant age difference and breaking from traditional political norms.

In his announcement, Trump indicated that the debate would take place in Pennsylvania, moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and would include a live audience.

Fox News has confirmed the event and stated that it will follow similar rules to the previous debate held in June between Trump and Biden.
