The British Soap Awards returned to viewers’ screens on Tuesday, June 6, amidst a wave of excitement and anticipation. The program showcased the biggest soap stars in the country from some of the most popular shows including Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and Eastenders. Held at Salford, the event was hosted by Yorkshire’s very own Jane McDonald, who brought her own unique brand of glamour to the show.
Meanwhile, Phillip Schofield, who had hosted previously, stepped back from the event due to his affair with a younger colleague, and parted ways with ITV, including the Soap Awards event. Jane McDonald stepped in to replace him and said it was her “dream job”.
Despite the 50th anniversary celebrations of Emmerdale, the show only won one award.
Moreover, one of Emmerdale’s most famous stars won an extraordinary gong for their performance, which is a well deserved award. The show was well-represented with numerous members nominated in various categories.
The event comprises red carpet graced by soap stars hoping to be recognized for their hard work throughout the year.
Recall, the British Soap Awards are significant event in the UK entertainment industry because they celebrate the hard work and contributions of actors, writers, and directors to British soap operas.
