Man Arrested with Weapons Near Trump Rally
Authorities in California have confirmed the apprehension of a man who possessed illicit firearms immediately before a rally held by the former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, on Saturday.
At about 5 pm, deputies positioned at a security control point near the crossing of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive in Coachella Valley stopped a black SUV.
Upon further investigation, the driver, identified as Vem Miller, a 49-year-old from Las Vegas, was illegally carrying a shotgun, a loaded pistol, and a high-capacity magazine, prohibited by law.
Miller was taken into custody, and the investigation is continuing.
A news report published on Sky News quoted Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco saying to journalists on Sunday that his deputies likely “stopped the third assassination attempt.”
Sheriff Bianco said his deputies became suspicious when the man got close to the restricted area.
“There were many abnormalities that popped up,” said Sheriff Bianco at a press conference on Sunday.
His officers “noticed the inside of the vehicle was disorganised and had a fake license plate.”
