Kylian Mbappe, the captain of the French national football team, capped off his successful season at Paris Saint-Germain by being named Ligue 1's Player of the Year. This marks his fifth consecutive time winning the award, presented by the French players' union (UNFP).

The 25-year-old striker boasts an impressive 44 goals across all competitions for PSG this season. While his time with the club is coming to an end, he left his mark with a goal during his final home game, despite PSG's surprising 3-1 loss to Toulouse.

Mbappe recently led the league in scoring 27 goals, a significant eight-goal lead over his closest competitor, Jonathan David of Lille. With two Ligue 1 games and the French Cup final against Lyon remaining, Mbappe's season isn't quite over yet.

Voted for by his fellow players, Mbappe received the award from French Olympic legend Marie-Jose Perec. Ousmane Dembele (PSG), Pierre Lees-Melou (Brest), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Marseille), and Edon Zhegrova (Lille) were also nominated.

PSG's dominance extended beyond Mbappe's award. Teenage midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery was named Young Player of the Year, and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma earned the Best Goalkeeper award. Additionally, Eric Roy, coach of Brest, received Coach of the Year honours for leading his team to a historic European qualification for the first time.
