After narrowly surviving an assassination attempt, former President of the United States Donald Trump spoke to the New York Post on Sunday, July 14th. He stated, "I’m not meant to be here; I’m meant to be dead."

Trump described the experience as "unbelievable," with a white bandage wrapped around his right ear as he gave the interview aboard his plane en route to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he was set to be confirmed as the party’s presidential candidate.

The incident took place on Saturday, July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally when an armed attacker shot Trump in the ear, leaving him bloody and injured. He mentioned that if he hadn't tilted his head to the right to read a chart while speaking at the rally, he might not have survived.

Trump cited luck or divine intervention for his survival, thanking the Secret Service for taking down the assailant. He acknowledged the Secret Service for their swift action, stating, "They took him out with one shot right between the eyes. They did a very good job."

A photo of Trump raising his fist defiantly as Secret Service personnel escorted him away became widely circulated on social media and made headlines globally. Trump commented on the photo, saying, "Many people say it’s the most legendary photo they’ve ever seen. They’re right, and I didn’t die. Usually you have to die to have a legendary picture.
