The Staffs of Osun State teaching hospital under the umbrella of Senator Ademola Adeleke Solidarity Movement has expressed their satisfaction on the victory of the governor in the gubernatorial election, expressing their expectations for the health sector.

In an exclusive interview with Lagos Local News on Saturday, 26 November 2022,  the Coordinator of the Movement, Sheriff Iderawumi explained that the hospital needs to be paid attention to in terms of facilities and proper staff care.

Iderawumi pleaded that the government should implement their promotion as it was only done on a paper promise during the administration of Oyetola.

He said, "Welfarism should be well taken care of, for both staff and the patient, we want modern pieces of equipment to aid the proper functioning of staffs because our equipment is in a state of comatose which is affecting our output drastically.

"We want the implementation of promotion, the outgoing governor only gives promotion on paper, no financial support to back it up. Our governor should do something about it on time. The financial backing should be included to be able to do our work judiciously"

Speaking further, the coordinator noted that the hazard allowances should also be looked into and be Implemented, claiming that it has been implemented in the National level.

He noted, "Our hazard and peculiar allowance should be implemented because it has been implemented at the national level.

He also reiterated that the government should help equip the hospital, and also provide ambulances for emergency.

Provision of well-equipped ambulances to move the patient out of the hospital is required, as at present we have only one ambulance here. If we are going out for others Investigation, the patient will be booked down"

Iderawumi who lamented at the lack of staffs and drugs in the hospital implored the governor to employ more clinical and non-clinical staffs and also provide adequate drugs.

"We need adequate funding of the hospital, we lack all the facilities. There's no re-agent in our laboratory,  Our pharmacy is not working. There's no proper drugs in our hospital

"The IGR is not in good shape at present, the money we are realizing has dropped drastically. We want that to be properly monitored" he noted

Iderawumi said, "Employment of more clinical and non clinical staff. At present we are understaffed, a doctor that is supposed to attend to 30 to 50 patients is attending to almost 200 patients.

"This is giving them a serious headache., There's no health attendance, lab technicians are not available, lab scientists, nurses, they are not adequately available."

Moreso, Iderawumi beseeched the governor to be people oriented and also be attend visitations to the hospital once periodically.

"We need our new governor to do more to aid the function of the hospital. We want the new governor to be visiting our hospital periodically

By this, he will be able to know what we lack and what we need and how the hospital is running. There will be proper checking for smooth running of daily activities.  If our governor is able to do this, we will have no problem"

While explaining the action they have taken so far, tbe coordinator said, 'We have met the former governor through the union in the hospital, we  resident doctor, ARD has met the former governor with our plight severally, all what we are receiving was promises upon promises. All we have is misplacement of priority that is affecting us, we want the new governor to look into it"

Meanwhile, in his own part, Dr.Olapade Mukaila Opeyemi, one of the coordinator who congratulated the governor for his victory in the election added that that hospital is the only functional hospital in the state and as such, the governor should ensure there's adequate equipments.

He said the governor should ensure the doctors are taken care of, adding that he should implement new salary scale because some of the workers have left for greener pastures.

"This is the only functional state university teaching hospital in Osun state and is the hospital that is near and easily accessible to the people. This is the only reachable hospital in osun state, this hospital needs to be taken care of, the hospital as a whole and the staff.

The governor should look into tbe exodus of doctors and nurses out of UNIOSUN, due to lack of care. So many people have left to look for greener pastures in abroad and other national hospitals. Employment of Doctors and nurses should be looked into. Implementation of new salary scale, promotion, accumulated salary as promised by the past government"

Dr. Olapade explained that due to excess work, some nurses and Doctors are falling sick with no money to take care of themselves, beseeching the governor to replace worn-out equipment.

"Deduction of cooperation should be implemented, and the overwork of Doctors and Nurses should be looked into. Doctotrs are falling sick because of excess work.

The governor should help us to replace worn out equipments. We need more hands in this hospital.

There's no drug. The tax levied on us is too much, he should look into it. God has made him to overcome the hurdles of the election, God will make him to overcome others.

I congratulate him for overcoming the hurdles he has been passing through since 2018, God has helped him to overcome it, God will be with him, he will help him to paddle the canoe of this state. People will appreciate him and vote him in for a second term".
