This announcement was made during a media chat on Sunday, 3rd September 2023, as part of the activities marking his first 100 days in office, according to his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu.
During the chat, Governor Uba Sani discussed various critical issues, with a particular emphasis on health, security, and infrastructural development. Following recommendations from a committee led by the Kaduna State Head of Service, negotiations took place in August 2023, revealing that resident doctors in the Kaduna State Ministry of Health received 75% of the 2014 CONMESS, while their counterparts at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital received 100% of CONMESS.
Starting from September 2023, the approved 100% CONMESS will bring Resident Doctors in the Ministry of Health to parity with their colleagues at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital. Governor Sani expressed confidence that this step would enhance productivity and attract more doctors to the state.
In addition to this, the Governor announced the continuation of the recruitment of 89 medical doctors to address staffing gaps identified in 2017, as recommended by the committee. This move aims to boost doctors' morale and improve access to quality healthcare for the residents of Kaduna.
Governor Sani also highlighted the administration's commitment to healthcare, emphasizing that they recently initiated the distribution of advanced medical equipment to upgraded primary healthcare centers. This initiative aligns with the administration's goal to ensure that every citizen has access to a primary healthcare center within a kilometer of their residence.
The media chat provided a platform for Governor Sani to engage with the concerns of Kaduna residents, as they posed questions via phone calls. He acknowledged the positive results of his interactions with development partners, noting that an increasing number of investors have been attracted to Kaduna due to the business-friendly environment his administration has created.
