In a continued show of support for education, former governor of Anambra and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, donated N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences, Adazi Nnuku, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Obi presented the cheque to His Excellency, Most Reverend Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, who is the proprietor of the institution. He emphasised the critical role nurses play in the nation's health sector, underscoring the immense importance of their work.

The former presidential affirmed that nurses deserved all the attention they could get.

Obi said that institutions like this should get budgetary allocation because of the great work you are doing, trying to train these nurses who are always there with the patient.

“Healthcare workers are essential to national development, as a strong healthcare system relies on their expertise."

"I understand the concerns raised by the Head of Nursing. I want to assure you, students, that we are dedicated to this programme and will continue to offer the support you need to succeed. Training the nurses is helping to protect our future. If we do not train them today, they will become a threat to us.

Reacting, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Obi for his ongoing generosity towards the institution. He lauded Obi's dedication to supporting the school, both during his time as governor and as a private citizen.

Ezeakagor pledged to use the money strategically for the benefit of humanity. He also extended an invitation for continued partnership to ensure the school's lasting impact.
