In a bold move to revolutionize cassava farming and tackle food insecurity in Nigeria, Agbeyewa Farms Limited has unveiled an ambitious 12-point agenda.

The company presented its comprehensive plan during a recent visit by a delegation from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to the farm.

Kabir Shagaya, Director of Strategy for Cavista Holdings, the parent company of Agbeyewa Farms, revealed that the blueprint stems from a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2024 between the company's chairman, Niyi John Olajide, and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

The agreement aims to establish a cutting-edge cassava farm spanning 100,000 hectares within the state.

The initiative will be implemented through an innovative in-grower/out-grower cooperative program, organizing eligible farmers into cooperatives of 100-150 members, each managing a 500-hectare plot.

Agbeyewa Farms' plans include extensive land clearing and preparation for the 2025 farming season, in collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, as well as comprehensive farmer training through its in-house academy.

A key component of the agenda is the development of the Agbeyewa Model Town, which will feature residential units, schools, healthcare facilities, recreational spaces, and a Bus Rapid Transit system for efficient transportation.

The company is also seeking support from international donors like USAID and the United States African Development Foundation to bolster various aspects of their operations.

Seyi Aiyeleso, Managing Director of Agbeyewa Farms, disclosed that the company currently operates across 10,000 hectares of land in nine Ekiti State communities.

He also announced the imminent launch of their 26-hectare agro-processing plant, which will produce high-quality cassava derivatives such as flour, starch, and ethanol.

With its headquarters in Ekiti State, Agbeyewa Farms Limited specializes in cassava cultivation, aggregation, and sales, while also offering a range of services including equipment leasing, vehicle and farm machinery repairs, and commercial fumigation.
