This unveiling coincided with the commencement of a three-day free healthcare program for the local community. The official inauguration of the hospital was performed by the state Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, representing Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In his address, Shaibu highlighted that the hospital has undergone a complete redesign, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and fortified to cater not only to the healthcare needs of residents in Edo State but also to Nigerians at large.

To underscore the importance of accessible healthcare, the hospital has initiated a three-day period during which free medical services will be provided to all, without any discrimination based on tribe, religion, or ethnicity. Shaibu urged the local populace to take full advantage of this opportunity for free medical care.

He emphasized, "The significance of the teaching hospital lies in its ability to deliver quality healthcare and improve the well-being of the people of Edo State and Nigeria as a whole."

In his remarks, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, the Vice Chancellor of Edo State University, emphasized that the establishment of the university teaching hospital aimed to foster a collaborative environment for mutual learning. This initiative presents a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge, learn from the experiences of others, and draw inspiration from groundbreaking research and achievements that will be shared within the academic community, especially benefiting Edo State University students.

Furthermore, Prof. Aluyor noted that the three-day free medical care services align with the hospital's Corporate Social Responsibility to the communities of Auchi, Iyamho, Ivioghe, and the broader Etsako West and East areas.

Expressing his commitment to excellence, Prof. Aluyor assured that the university's management would spare no effort in positioning the hospital to compete globally, maintaining the highest standards of healthcare delivery.

He said, “The three days of free medical care services is in line with the hospital’s Corporate Social Responsibility for the communities of Auchi, Iyamho and Ivioghe in Etsako West and East respectively.
