Adamawa State is about to start a new polio immunization campaign.

The exercise will start on Thursday, December 14, and run through the 17th, according to the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA), which made this announcement on Monday.

It will be the third round in the previous four months, according to Dr. Sulaiman Sa'adu Bashir, the Executive Chairman of ADSPHDA, who spoke at a press conference regarding the scheduled vaccination activity.

He stated that during each of the prior rounds of vaccination campaigns, more than a million children received the polio vaccine, suggesting that a comparable number of children will receive the shots during the upcoming new exercise.

“In this agency, prevention is our emphasis,” the ADSPHCDA chairman asserted, adding that the agency has regularly supervised immunisation exercises to achieve such optimum preventive status.

He also revealed that 1,811 teams of officials would be sent to each of the state's 21 Local Government Areas to assist with the upcoming vaccination campaign.

He clarified that Adamawa is unique when it comes to anti-polio vaccination because, despite the fact that the state is virus-free, states and other communities that contact with the state put the virus at danger.

The ADSPHCDA chief provided background information to the reporters covering the press conference on Monday. He stated that the most recent round of polio vaccinations was administered between November 12 and November 15, with the previous round occurring between September 29 and October 2. All vaccinations were administered within the previous four months.

He claimed that because coverage reached 102 percent in the previous exercises, they were a great success.

He says that whereas 1,322,695 children were the focus of the last round, 1,345,872 children were actually reached, yielding a 102 percent coverage success rate.

Although there were certain areas of immunization opposition, he claimed that strong efforts including all relevant parties were able to lower barriers and increase acceptability, which is why the accomplishments were attained.
