Nigerian actor, comedian, radio and TV presenter, Ayodeji Richard Makun, known by his stage name AY, has addressed the rumours surrounding his marriage to wife Mabel Makun.
Current speculations suggest discord in their relationship, powered by claims of unfaithfulness and detachment.
In a written statement, AY said, numerous people believe that staying silent simply means that one is not capable of dealing with challenges. Projecting a negative story against someone who is not fighting to defend himself doesn’t mean he is fragile.
The star, in an Instagram post on Sunday, seemed to acknowledge the rumours, delving into actions he’s not proud of.
He affirmed that he had reached a stage where he could no longer entertain the public with deep personal family challenges. Noting that it might be too difficult to handle depending on the individuals concerned.
AY said, Not when I have a grown-up daughter who is active on social media. Her mental health needs to be secured from viewing contents she cannot be proud of online.
Yes! Without compromising my family, I have found myself doing some things that I am not proud of today. It is one thing to watch my friendship or marriage of 20 years slip off my hands, but it’s another thing for the parties concerned to know how to appropriate the blame in a space that is designed for most women to always play the victim and win. I can tell you for free that no one is totally innocent enough to cast stones.
AY warned against supposition, stating that strength and weakness are not defined by public displays.
AY and Mabel got married in November 2008, and they are blessed with two children.
