During his earlier days in the music industry, Phyno revealed that he encountered pressure to join a cult or engage in rituals in exchange for quick fame and success.
Phyno shared this insight while offering guidance to up-and-coming artists who might be tempted to take shortcuts on their path to success. He said, for him, hard work, determination, and unwavering resilience were the fundamental principles that he believed would lead him to success. Consequently, he never entertained the idea of shortcuts.
The rapper cautioned young artists to exercise caution when pursuing quick success and to be particularly mindful when considering record label deals. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly reading and understanding the terms and conditions of any contract before signing it.
He remarked, "Some people look at us today and think we got it easy, Not at all. I’ve never loved easy things. Before many people heard of Phyno, I’d had songs that no one knew existed. A couple of friends told me to blow, I must join a cult or sacrifice something or someone, I told them the price is too much. I’ll never do such. I believed in myself and the power of hard work, I started little and today I thank God."
Phyno went on to advise aspiring artists against desperation, encouraging them to embrace the values of hard work and patience. He stressed the importance of avoiding impulsive decisions, such as hastily signing with a record label, as it could lead to unfavorable terms and consequences.
"Young talents need to relax, do not be desperate about record deals or being in the spotlight. Keep working, when it’s time you’ll shine," Phyno advised.
"Imagine begging a label to sign you, what kind of terms will they give you? They already know you are desperate and they will use you. At the beginning, you might not see it but give it time, you’ll regret it. Nothing pays more than hard work and consistency," he added.
