The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor of Lagos in 2023, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, called the circumstances surrounding the death of late artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, "very unfortunate."

On September 12, news of the 27-year-old singer's death stunned music fans.

Adediran appealed for thoroughness in the probe into the musician's death in a statement released on Wednesday by Mr Gbenga Ogunleye, Head, of Media and Communications JANDOR4GOVERNOR Campaign Organization.

He said: “Mohbad’s death announced on Sept. 12 is shrouded in secrecy and foul play with widespread allegation of complicit of some key players in the music industry.

“The law enforcement agencies need to unravel the truth and ensure no case of injustice is allowed by carrying out a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

“This unfortunate incident and the attendant public outcry on attempts to cover up the matter is a huge draw back to the entertainment industry in the country.”

Adediran bemoaned the premature passing of such a promising artist and the fear felt by music listeners over the alleged risks and unscrupulous undercutting occurring in the entertainment sector.

“This is a big blow on the image of our music industry”, he said.
