WAEC Honors Nigerian And Ghanaian Candidates

The West African Examinations Council reported that about 2,276,112 candidates sat for the Senior School Certificate Examination in Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone, in 2022.  

Report stated that the council honored three candidates, one Nigerian and two Ghanaians with the WAEC International Excellence award for their wonderful performance in the West African SSCE.  

The information was reported by the council through a press statement issued by WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, Demianus Ojijeogu, at the end of its 71st Annual Council Meeting in Banjul, The Gambia.  

He stated, during the formal opening of the meeting, that the council honored three candidates with the WAEC International Excellence Award for their wonderful performance in the WASSCE for school candidates, 2022. 

 The candidates honored are Master Alex Opoku Manu, a Ghanaian [1st price], Master Benjamin Degbey, a Ghanaian [2nd price], and Miss Chioma Obidigbo, a Nigerian [3rd price].  The candidates were selected from a total of 2,276,112 candidates who sat for the examination in the Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.  Master Alex Opoku Manu was privileged to receive The Augustus Bandele Oyediran Award  for the best candidate in West  Africa, 2022.
