OAU and Others on List of Nigerian Universities to Offer MSc in AI

The European Union (EU) has made a significant move by choosing five Nigerian universities to participate in a Master's degree program focused on embedded artificial intelligence (AI).

This initiative is part of a broader effort, with a total of eight universities across the globe being selected to provide the program under the grant approved by the EU Culture Executive Agency. The International MSc Programme in Embedded Artificial Intelligence is aimed at fostering expertise in this cutting-edge field.

Out of the eight chosen universities, five of them hail from Nigeria, marking a noteworthy achievement for the country's higher education sector.

This development was shared by Zailani Bappa, who serves as the Director of Information and Public Relations at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi. The announcement, issued on Sunday, August 13, was documented in an official statement published on the university's website.

The Nigerian institutions that have been selected to partake in this groundbreaking program include:

1. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University located in Bauchi State

2. University of Port Harcourt situated in Rivers State

3. University of Abuja based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

4. Obafemi Awolowo University situated in Ile Ife, Osun State

5. Michael Okpara University of Agriculture located in Umudike, Abia State

“The EU Erasmus is aimed at integrating artificial capabilities into embedded system to enhance skill set for modelling, design and analysis for Engineers.

“It has the capability to strengthen the Nigerian Higher Education training curricular with state-of-the-art, European standard technology. “And the programme will last for a period of 36 months."
