The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for the deployment of a metallurgical science laboratory at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The MoU, originally signed in July 2018, was renewed by NSIB Director-General Capt. Alex Badeh Jr. and UNILAG Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola during a ceremony held at the university's Senate Building.

Badeh emphasized the importance of collaboration between NSIB and academic institutions, stating that the agency would expedite the relocation of laboratory equipment for university use.

He noted that previous discussions had not led to significant progress and expressed a commitment to moving forward with this partnership.

"We need the expertise from universities like UNILAG to enhance our operations," Badeh said. "With capable hands across various institutions, we can ensure that valuable resources are utilized effectively."

Prof. Ogunsola highlighted that the equipment would support the university's teaching and research objectives, urging for demand-driven research to propel Nigeria's development.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Samson Adeosun, called for swift action on relocating the equipment, asserting that it would benefit both the university and the aviation sector.
