The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) is set to collaborate with Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) in Ado-Ekiti to advance electric vehicle (EV) and compressed natural gas (CNG) technologies.
During a recent visit to ABUAD, NADDC Director General Oluwemimo Osanipin emphasized the importance of this partnership in fostering local production of automotive components.
He praised ABUAD's technological advancements and highlighted that the collaboration aims to enhance electric mobility and facilitate the conversion of vehicles to CNG, both of which are essential for meeting global environmental objectives.
Osanipin stated, “The collaboration with ABUAD will be strategic, especially in promoting electric mobility and converting vehicles to CNG, both of which are critical to reducing carbon emissions and achieving global environmental goals.”
Afe Babalola, the founder of ABUAD, along with other university officials, including Vice Chancellor Professor Olarinde Smaranda, welcomed Osanipin and his team.
They toured the university’s Mechatronics Engineering Department and Industrial Parks as part of the visit. Babalola explained the necessity for technical partnerships between academic institutions, asserting that this collaboration would accelerate industrial growth and promote sustainable automotive technologies.
The visit also included key members of ABUAD's management team, such as bursar Dupe Babalola, Director of International Collaboration and Linkages Professor Afolalu, and Director of Corporate Affairs Tunde Olofintila.
