Lagos State University (LASU) has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation for 44 courses following an extensive evaluation process conducted by the body in October and November 2023.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, proudly announced the results of the accreditation exercise.

She revealed that 43 out of the 44 courses assessed secured full accreditation, with only one course, 'Computer Science Education,' receiving interim accreditation. This remarkable success rate of approximately 99% is an unprecedented record in the university's recent history.

Olatunji-Bello emphasized that this achievement marks another significant milestone in the realization of the six strategic goals set by the current administration, with the accreditation of courses being the first and most crucial objective.

The accredited courses span a wide range of disciplines, including postgraduate programs in Banking and Finance, Insurance, Marketing, Transport Management, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, and Management Technology.

Additionally, undergraduate programs in Marketing, Public Administration, Transport Management, Agriculture, Fisheries, French, History and International Studies, Philosophy, Portuguese, Theatre and Media Arts, and Mass Communication were also accredited.

The list continues with Computer Science, Business Education, Education Arabic, Education Economics, Education Management, Education Mathematics, Education Technology, and Health Education.

Engineering programs such as Aeronautics and Astronautics, Chemical and Polymer, Electronics and Computer, and Mechanical Engineering also received accreditation along with Law, Dentistry, Medicine and Surgery, and various Science programs.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed her gratitude to the Lagos State Government, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, members of the governing council, and all stakeholders involved in the LASU Project for their unwavering support and contributions to this remarkable achievement.
