The International Centre for Investigative Reporting (The ICIR) conducted a three-day training for a group of journalists on the Open Contract Reporting Project (OCRP).

The aim of organizing the program was to build journalists’ capacity and enhance their skills in investigative reporting,fact checking,data journalism, the freedom of information act, multimedia reporting, security for reporting in unfriendly or unsafe environments, and tracking procurement fraud etc.

The training was held at Ibeato Hotel, App, Gudu District, Abuja, the journalists present were randomly selected and they’re from the South East zones and North Central of Nigeria.

Beloved John, an Open Contract Reporting Fellowship participant, stated that she applied for the program to acquire the essential knowledge and skills to report on procurement abnormalities in public sectors across Nigeria.

The Open Contract Reporting project was supported by the International Budget Partnership and was organized by the center to equip train journalists with tools and techniques to expose wrongdoings in government and to make sure that public officials are held accountable.
