It’s mandatory for a prospective Corp Member to receive feedback from the National Youth Service Scheme, after registration for the Orientation Course as it serves as a guideline to other processes involved.
However, for the purposes of this article, I would be using my personal experiences.
After my registration for the orientation course, I was instructed to be checking my email constantly for my green card. They will send you a message via email in a few days' time, I was instructed by the woman who registered me.
Few days later, I received an email from NYSC as she said, and I wasn’t among the prospective corps members scheduled to report at the orientation camp that month. It was ‘Batch ‘A’ stream 1’ candidates that were mobilized in February 2022. Mine was scheduled for March 18, 2022 which entails I was in ‘Batch ‘A’ stream 2.
However, I was excited as a result of that because, I needed to sort out a lot of personal stuff like; going to my institution to finish up with clearance so they could release my statement of result, buying some items like, white round neck shirts, white shorts, white socks, a white hand glove, white canvas either rubber or leather, beverages and other valuable items...
The statement of result is one of the most important documents used in camp for registration. So I traveled to the eastern part of the country where my school is situated (Enugu State precisely).
However, I went to my institution for final clearance and collection of my statement of result.
My statement of result was given to me at ‘the exams and records’ in my institution after paying all the required fees for clearance. The portal was opened again for registrations in the first week of March and I was very excited when I saw it in the news.
Then one week after registration by other candidates, who had not registered before, we were instructed to print our call up letter.
Call up letter enables one to know his or her state of deployment.
I checked mine and it was “Kogi State.”
Moreover, from the statement written on the letter I was instructed to report at NYSC permanent orientation camp (Asaya kabba, Kabba Bunu LGA, Kogi State, Nigeria.) on the 18th of March, 2022.
Then I had started having missed feelings because Kogi was not among the states I wished to serve in.
I wanted a more developed state where I could serve and equally see opportunities to learn skills that would help me advance in my career.
