The Niger State Liquor Licensing Board has concluded arrangements to destroy alcoholic beverages worth more than N20 million that were seized from vendors in Suleja, Suleja local government area of the state, for breaking the liquor laws.
This information was revealed in Minna by Mallam Ibrahim Muhammad Bonu, the Board's Secretary.
He explained that the objects slated for destruction were taken into custody due to violations of the Niger State law prohibiting the sale, consumption, and possession of alcoholic beverages.
In a warning, Bonu asked the state's vendors of alcoholic beverages to strictly follow all rules and guidelines.
“Any vendors caught violating liquor law or using underaged persons in their operation will have their premises sealed,” he warned.
Additionally, he warned the company owners that failure to observe the opening and closing times outlined in the Niger State Liquor Licensing Board's bylaws would result in their expulsion and equivalent legal action.
The Secretary then warned the Board's staff to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the legislation regarding alcohol, cautioning, “Any person found wanting in the discharge of his or her duty or found conniving with any vendor shall be made to face the full wrath of the law”
