The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Halilu, announced a 50% discount for drivers looking to convert their vehicles through the newly launched MY-CNG App.
This announcement was made during the launch of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative’s (Pi-CNG) Conversion Incentive Programme for the rideshare sector, which took place at NASENI’s CNG Engineering, Training and Conversion facility in Utako, Abuja.
Halilu emphasized the importance of the Pi-CNG initiative in Nigeria’s energy landscape, noting its rapid emergence as a key topic in discussions about the country’s energy future.
He highlighted that this initiative, launched in collaboration with Portland and Dana Motors, aims to provide market-ready products that can alleviate living costs and enhance the quality of life for Nigerians, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Conversion Incentive Programme specifically targets rideshare drivers, including those working with Uber and Bolt, offering substantial savings.
Halilu stated that compressed natural gas (CNG) is a cleaner and more affordable fuel option, with the potential to reduce transportation costs by up to 70% and provide car owners with 40% savings.
Halilu described the initiative as a practical solution to help reduce living expenses for Nigerians.
He also recognized the collaborative efforts of partners like Pi-CNG, Portland, and Dana Motors, affirming that teamwork is essential for transforming Nigeria’s energy and transportation sectors.
