The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has reiterated its call for the Federal Government to lift the ban on sachet alcoholic drinks.

The Director-General of MAN, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, emphasized that the ban would lead to further job losses and harm the distilling industry in the country.

MAN's stance on the ban remains unchanged, and the association is hopeful that the ongoing discussions will ultimately result in the termination of the ban.

Ajayi-Kadir argued that the ban is not the best option, especially for packaging, and that education, restriction of access, and continuous engagement are more effective ways to ensure responsible consumption.

In response to the Director-General of National Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, who stated that the ban remains in place until a response comes from the Minister of Health, Ajayi-Kadir noted that the concerns expressed by the health ministry are "fully realizable and are being significantly realized."

He added that the industry players are actively working to address the health ministry's concerns by restricting access to underage citizens and conducting campaigns for responsible consumption, as done in other countries.
