In a recent development, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding the implementation of the new national minimum wage and other benefits for judicial workers.

This decision was made following an emergency meeting held at the JUSUN Secretariat in Abuja.

The ultimatum, which begins on February 13, 2025, and ends on February 19, 2025, warns that failure to meet these demands will lead to an indefinite strike starting from February 20, 2025. The union is seeking full implementation of a new national minimum wage and additional benefits for its members.

This latest move follows a previous 21-day ultimatum that expired without any action from the government. JUSUN has been engaged in ongoing disputes with the Federal Government over issues related to wages and financial autonomy for judiciary bodies across Nigeria.

The union's demands are part of broader efforts by judicial workers nationwide who feel overlooked despite other public sector workers receiving revised wages.

JUSUN has emphasized that it cannot guarantee industrial harmony if its demands remain unmet and has urged swift action from the government to prevent disruptions in judicial activities across the country.
