Folorunso Alakija, one of Africa's wealthiest women, has demonstrated her commitment to supporting female entrepreneurs by empowering 100 women with N2 million each, totaling a staggering N200 million. This financial support was extended through Flourish Africa, a non-governmental organization founded by Alakija to uplift and empower women in their entrepreneurial journeys.

The 100 beneficiaries were selected from a group of 501 female entrepreneurs who completed the rigorous training under the Flourish Africa Business and Life Skills Training Programme. These exceptional women emerged victorious in a business pitch competition, showcasing their determination and business acumen.

During a ceremony held in Lagos to honor the successful entrepreneurs, Folorunso Alakija applauded the recipients for their dedication and successful completion of the four-month training program. She encouraged the beneficiaries to put the knowledge and skills they acquired to good use, not only to excel in their respective fields but also to contribute to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy.

Alakija expressed her gratitude to all the partners who supported the program and called upon other public-spirited individuals and organizations to join hands in empowering women entrepreneurs. She emphasized that contributions through funding, training, mentorship, and advisory services could significantly impact the lives of these enterprising women, leading to broader positive outcomes for society.

The event also saw the participation of the Bank of Industry, represented by Kings Jack, the regional director, and Adebola Oruma, the group head of the gender business group within the large enterprises directorate. The Bank of Industry reiterated its commitment to providing the necessary support and platforms for women entrepreneurs, including access to funding, to foster their growth and success.

The empowerment of these 100 female entrepreneurs comes as a significant boost to the Nigerian entrepreneurial ecosystem. With access to substantial financial support, these enterprising women can now expand and elevate their businesses to new heights. Such initiatives are crucial in narrowing the gender gap in entrepreneurship and fostering economic growth and development in the country.

Folorunso Alakija's dedication to empowering women entrepreneurs through Flourish Africa serves as an inspiring example for others to follow. As more women are equipped with the resources and skills they need to thrive in business, the entire nation stands to benefit from their innovation, resilience, and contributions to the Nigerian economy.
