Dangote Refinery Employs 7,000 Young Nigerians Annually - Dan-Musa

Dangote Sugar Refinery has stated that it hires no fewer than 7,000 employees annually as part of its Backward Integration Project in Numan, Adamawa State.

During a media tour of the Numan facility, the company's Group General Manager of Operations, Bello Dan-Musa said," besides directly employing thousands of young people, the company also engages more than 7,000 youths during the peak of the production season."

In an official statement, it was highlighted that the Dangote Group holds the position of Nigeria's largest employer after the government.

Dan-Musa disclosed that the company disbursed over N500 million to out-growers for the sugarcane produced within the DSR Numan out-growers scheme.

The statement further shed light on the current capacity of the DSR Numan refinery, which stands at 4,800 tons of Cane Per Day, is slated for an upgrade to 6,000 TCD by the close of 2023, followed by a rise to 9,800 TCD by 2024, and subsequently reaching 15,000 TCD.

“Dangote Sugar Refinery Numan has contributed immensely to the realisation of the Backward Integration programme of the Federal Government. It is the largest producer of household and commercial sugar,” he said.

Aliko Dangote, the President of the Dangote Group, stated that upon finishing the BIP projects, his sugar company would have the capacity to generate approximately 300,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, contributing positively to the national economy.

During the media tour, Chinnaya Judex, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director said the expansion drive had reached a significant mileage.
