Dangote Cement Plc has taken a significant step in promoting socio-economic empowerment and sustainable development in Nigeria by training and graduating 46 solar energy installers and entrepreneurs.

This initiative underscores the company's commitment to enhancing the renewable energy sector in the country.

At the graduation ceremony held at the Dangote Academy in Obajana, Plant Director Azad Nawabuddin expressed confidence that the new graduates are poised to make a substantial impact in Nigeria's renewable energy landscape.

He emphasized that Group President Aliko Dangote is deeply committed to youth empowerment, aligning with government efforts to create jobs and improve electricity access in communities across Nigeria.

Nawabuddin, represented by John Gwong, Head of the Production Department, described the training as a "meal ticket" and a "rare opportunity" that is forward-looking.

He noted that this program is part of Dangote Cement’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at benefiting society.

Wakeel Olayiwola, Head of Social Performance at Dangote Cement, highlighted that these newly trained solar energy experts will assist the government in providing power supply to millions of Nigerians.

General Manager of Community Affairs and Special Duties, Ademola Adeyemi, added that among the 46 graduates, 27 are men and 19 are women, reflecting a commitment to gender inclusion.

The training program was conducted in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), with ITF Kogi State Training Manager Abdulrahman Wudilawa noting that beneficiaries should feel fortunate as solar technology represents one of Nigeria's most lucrative sectors.

He pointed out that Nigeria's abundant sunlight makes it an ideal location for solar energy installation.

Wudilawa also emphasized the environmental benefits of solar energy, stating that it generates no greenhouse gas emissions or air pollutants, thereby significantly reducing carbon footprints compared to traditional energy sources.
