As the Miss Universe Nigeria beauty pageant approaches, online discussions have intensified which has drawn both interest and criticism from various quarters, particularly from South African social media users.

Some South Africans have expressed their disdain for the event, with comments suggesting that it resembles a memorial service or a secondary school competition, rather than a prestigious beauty pageant.

They have also targeted Chidimma Adetshina, a contestant of both South African and Nigerian heritage, advising her to pursue opportunities in South Africa instead of competing in Nigeria.

In response to the criticism, many Nigerians have expressed their views on social media. Some have dismissed the negative comments as unwarranted, while others have echoed concerns about the event's execution.

One user called out the organizers for the inadequacy of the decoration at the event.

The founder of Miss Universe Nigeria, Guy Murray-Bruce, emphasized the importance of unity and support among African nations, rejecting divisive attitudes.
