Just one game into the new season, the coach of the Paris Saint-Germain women's team announced his resignation on Thursday for personal reasons, according to the club.

Following a 3-0 victory against Bordeaux on the first weekend of the new French league season and before a matchup with champions Lyon this Sunday, Gerard Precheur announced his resignation.

Precheur's son Jocelyn, who served as his assistant, has taken Precheur's job.

The announcement comes a day after Versailles, a suburb of Paris, prosecutors launched a preliminary inquiry into allegations of sexual assault against Didier Olle-Nicolle, Precheur's predecessor.

That came after Kadidiatou Diani, a forward for France who had signed with Lyon after leaving PSG, complained.

The 63-year-old Precheur's departure is unrelated to that affair or the outcomes, said a source close to the club.

Precheur was hired in August of last year to take Olle-Nicolle's place, who had been suspended after being accused of acting in a "inappropriate" manner. However, an internal inquiry later absolved Olle-Nicolle of all charges.

PSG finished second to defending champion Lyon last season and advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Next month, PSG and Manchester United will play a pivotal two-game match, with the winner moving on to the Champions League group stage.
