After the first round of the group stage, African teams competing in the FIFA Women's World Cup currently in Australia and New Zealand have scored the joint lowest goals collectively.
Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, and Morocco, Africa's four representatives, combined together have only scored one goal. They are now at par with Oceania as the continents with the fewest goals scored.
Nigeria is the only African team with a point in the tournament thus far after drawing 0-0 with Canada in their opening match. Africa's overall record is poor.
The initial matches for the other three representatives ended in loss.
With 35 goals already scored, UEFA is in the lead with 17, followed by AFC (Asia), CONMEBOL (South America), CONCACAF (North America), leading with 7, 6 and 3 goals respectively.
