Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, has urged the president to swiftly submit a 2023 Supplementary Budget to the National Assembly to launch his Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) project.
He underlined in a statement that excessive budgetary spending is against the law.
However, the committee chairman cautioned that it would be illegal to spend taxpayer money on the money without clearance by the National Assembly and other projects in the gas value chain, which are less expensive than the usage of fossil fuel. The committee chairman praised President Tinubu for the CNG initiative while praising the CNG initiative.
The senator also cautioned against additional budgetary spending through "Ways and Means," stating that the legislature was prepared to assist and provide relief for the populace.
This is what he is alleged to have stated following the joint religious service on July 4.
Jarigbe praised Tinubu for his revolutionary use of CNG to power vehicles. The great endeavour, he claimed, would lessen the inhabitants' suffering.
He also emphasized the necessity for the President to propose an additional budget so that the government could finance the gas value chain, including the provision for CNG infrastructure and CNG vehicles, and he added that funding would be required for workshops and training.
He claimed that the National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, was prepared to support the ambitious policies of his administration. He added that a 2023 supplementary budget would be preferable to the previous administration's "Ways and Means" strategy, which is currently a major source of contention at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The President had explained in his Independence speech that,” At my inauguration, I made important promises about how I would govern this great nation. Among those promises, were pledges to reshape and modernize our economy and to secure the lives, liberty and property of the people.
“I said that bold reforms were necessary to place our nation on the path of prosperity and growth. On that occasion, I announced the end of the fuel subsidy.”
