Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to certify the results of the governorship election in Adamawa state.
On a solidarity visit to the Government House in Yola on Monday, Makinde met with his counterpart from Adamawa, Governor Umaru Fintiri, and made his case.
Recall that Aisha 'Binani' Dahiru, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was controversially declared the victor of the elections on Sunday by State Resident Electoral Commissioner Hudu Yunusa Ari.
Many political parties, worried Nigerians, and civil society organizations have all condemned the development and demanded Ari's arrest.
In response to the contentious declaration, INEC put the collation on hold and gave Ari strict instructions to stay away from all Commission activities including the poll in Adamawa.
Makinde assured the people of Adamawa state during his visit that the current crisis will be resolved amicably and asked them to maintain their composure.
He praised INEC for the job well done in Oyo State and expressed confidence that, in front of a global audience, the election umpire would demonstrate its objectivity in the Adamawa process.
The governor reassured the residents of Adamawa state that the current crisis will be resolved peacefully and encouraged them to maintain calm.
Under the direction of Aminu Tambuwal, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors' Forum has vehemently denounced what it called a "show of shame" in the North-Eastern State.
