The wife of popular Nigerian comedian Mr. Jollof, Esinjemiyotan Atsepoyi, has initiated a defamation lawsuit against social media critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, seeking N500 million in damages.

The legal action follows a series of allegations made by Otse, who claimed that Atsepoyi used dubious methods to assist her husband, Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, in obtaining his role as Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Additionally, Otse accused her of engaging in extramarital affairs with an internet fraudster and various politicians.

In response to these allegations, Mrs. Atsepoyi has issued a 30-day ultimatum for Otse to appear in court and defend his statements. She publicly shared a four-page writ of summons on social media that outlines the claims against her.

Atsepoyi's lawsuit demands not only N500 million for reputational damage but also seeks a court order requiring Otse to issue a public apology in two national newspapers and across all his social media platforms. The suit states:

"A declaration that the Defendant (VeryDarkMan) did defame the Claimant in his online publication on 15th, 16th, and early hours of 19th September 2024."
