The Osun government has said the decision regarding the reintroduction of tablets and e-learning in secondary schools in the state has not yet been made.

Malam Olawale Rasheed, the governor's spokesperson, made this clear in a statement on Thursday in Osogbo.

According to the statement, Gov. Ademola Adeleke only directed immediate preparation for an education summit while distributing instructional materials to secondary schools in the state.

It stated that the governor also instructed the Ministries of Education and Science and Innovations to investigate the possibility of e-learning and tablets in senior secondary schools in order to address capacity concerns regarding textbooks and other learning materials prior to that summit.

According to the statement, the government only intended to hold an education summit in the near future to brainstorm ideas regarding the state's education system.

It stated that the summit would concentrate on a variety of topics, such as school facilities, learning aids, teacher availability, educational technology applications, parental factors, and student performance.

A comprehensive report on how to improve the state's education system would be produced as a result of the summit, according to the statement.

“Tech application in schools and e-learning are however global trends and Osun State is being prepared for such opportunities ahead of the summit,  hence the directive to the two ministries by the governor.

“The members of the public are hereby informed that no decision has been taken on tablets and e-learning for schools.

“Governor Adeleke will use the education summit to present a comprehensive education agenda,” it said.
