Lagos To Embark on Free Eye Screening for Teachers

Urged them to take maximum advantage of the opportunity to examine their eyes.

Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board in partnership with the AMA foundation has begun a 14-day free visual inspection for teachers in the state.

According to a statement made available on Thursday, the aim is to ensure adequate well-being of public primary school teachers in the state.

The Executive Chairman, LASUBEB, Dr Hakeem Shittu, expressed his gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu “for his relentless support in ensuring the welfare and well-being of classroom managers and for opening up the space for effective partnership to enhance the delivery of quality basic education in the state.”

He said that the medical outreach will continue until September 7, 2023, at two centers,namely: St. Agnes Primary School, Maryland, and Oshodi Primary School, Oshodi.

Additionally, he commended the AMA Foundation for the collaborative effort focused on addressing visual health issues by offering eye screening, cataract surgery, medical consultation, free drugs, and mental health awareness to the staff.

He urged the teachers to take maximum advantage of the opportunity to examine their eyes, stating that the exercise is targeted to reach 10,477 teachers.

Also, Mr Sa’id Bello, Director of Administration, AMA Foundation, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting the improvement of quality teaching and learning through various interventions.
